On 13 January, New York's David Zwirner Gallery will launch an anniversary exhibition marking the gallery's 25th anniversary. The exhibition will present works by artists who have participated in shaping the gallery's profile since 1993.

New building and exhibition at Zwirner's gallery

At the same time as Zwirner is celebrating the gallery's 25th anniversary, he is already planning the opening of another space, this time on West 21st Street. The five-storey building, valued at more than $50 million and designed by Renzo Piano, will become another important cultural venue on the New York map as early as autumn 2020. The exact plan for the new edifice is in the preliminary stages of design, but the author (who previously designed the new Whitney Museum of American Art building, among others) notes that the two most important considerations are the "visual-psychological fusion" of the atmosphere that characterizes the street and the building, and the continuation of the shaping of the ascetic aura that has characterized Zwirner's previous galleries.

Among the artists present at the anniversary exhibition will be names such as Dan Flavin, Donald Judd, On Kawara, Jeff Koons, Yayoi Kusama, Ad Reinhardt and many others.
