Rose McGowan, a well-known American actress and social activist, decided to make a moving and dramatic film along with a sound installation. She invited James Mulford the dancer responsible for the stage movement to collaborate.

Rose McGowan, film and performance

In her film, Rose McGowan sits with headphones on her ears and listens to the surrounding sounds. The same noise as on screen can also be followed by the performance audience. Although the film was recorded in May 2008, it is now presented as a brand-new performance. Additionally, McGowan stated after the recording that she had never met Mulford, so individual sequences of her film were recorded separately. Reportedly, after filming had finished, Rose said: "I went to the bathroom and cried". It is possible that the message of this performance was so profound that it is difficult to move past it. But did the audience understand the film properly?

The popularity of films about art

Films about art are increasingly popular. , "The Mill and the Cross" about a canvas by Peter Bruegel the Elder, "Girl with a Pearl" about a great painting by Vermeer or "Frida" the story of the Mexican artist, are just some of the few film offerings.
