Some of the works of classic modern artists are kept hidden from the public. It is often due to their private owners who do not want to show them in the galleries or museums. This is what happened to Roy Lichtenstein’s painting from 1969 “Study for Peace Through Chemistry”.

Roy Lichteinstein and his painting

The famous “Study for Peace Through Chemistry” inspired by Pop Art and Cubism had been not publicly displayed since 1973. It was even impossible to find its electronic images on the Internet – just until December 2017. It was Art Basel Miami Beach, a well-known art fair, that made it public again. Galleria Gmurzynska sold the artwork to an American collector for over $10 million making it the most expensive sale during the American lavish trade show for art lovers from all around the world.
