A special doll

Who is that very special doll which caught the attention of the Barry Art Museum of Norfolk, where it will be soon displayed after the museum will be open in 2018? It is a French lady with a very special necklace created in the 19th century by Antoine Edmund Rochard. A beautifully, meticulously painted jewellery placed on the doll’s cleavage featured 28 crystal “jewels”. 24 of them conceal microphotographs depicting places valuable to French history such as Fontainebleau or Louvre. Rochard’s doll is the first one from the 19th century which achieved such a high price on the antique market.
