Edgar Jerzy Pill studied painting and polychrome sculpture conservation at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. As a conservator, he has cooperated in the implementation of works on objects of paramount importance to Polish culture. He was brought up in a family with artistic traditions, from an early age he learned the arcana of painting, and he has remained faithful to this field, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.
He has always realized his need for artistic expression in abstract painting. For some years now, he has devoted himself exclusively to creative activity, combining the knowledge and technical skills he acquired during his studies in conservation with fidelity to his inner voice.
Edgar George Pill's paintings are characterized by an incredible charge of energy and a mesmerizing effect on the viewer. His paintings have a vital power, an affirmation of life in all its complexity and mystery. It is no coincidence that the exhibition summarizing 20 years of his creative work was entitled "Colour Mapping". These two words accurately characterize what seems to be at the heart of this oeuvre: a focus on process and a fascination with colour.
Edgar J. Pill's works are in many private collections at home and abroad. He is the author and co-author of more than twenty exhibitions.
