Gabriela Cichowska is a Polish illustrator, painter and graphic artist specializing in book illustration. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Since 2011, she has been teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. For her works she received many awards and honors in Poland and abroad, including Opera Prima - award for debut on International Book Fair in Bologna in 2009, for illustrations to the book "Fantje" (Gimpel Verlag). She worked with Julia Hartwig on the reissue of the story "Michael's Doom". In 2014, she received the Gustav Heinemann Peace Prize for her collaborative work "The Last Performance of Miss Esterka" - a story about the last moments of the Warsaw Orphanage run by Janusz Korczak (illustrations by the artist to text by Adam Jaromir). The book was also nominated in 2014 for the German Prize for Young People's Literature. In 2021, in the National Art Biennale - 46th Winter Salon, she received the Grand Prix, the prize of the Marshal of the Mazovian Province.
