Piotr Kachny
Date of birth
1978, Kluczbork

Piotr Kachny  born in 1978 in Kluczbork is a contemporary artist working in painting, artistic photography, and photomontage. He completed his studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Pedagogical and Artistic Faculty in Kalisz) and the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. His work focuses on the human figure, particularly portraits of people he knows, as well as figures from the worlds of film, music, and entertainment. These figures serve as a pretext for building an image, where the human face often resembles an architectural structure, and geometry symbolizes harmony.

What is essential in his work is often what is not immediately visible: emotions, feelings, spirit, character, sensuality, and sexuality. Kachny explores aspects of human sensuality, focusing on what has been lost due to culture, social conventions, and education. His works often depict women—young, beautiful, and sensual—and the main themes are sensuality and sexuality, which are considered taboo in many religious, social, political, and sociological systems. The artist poses the question of whether sensuality and sexuality exclude spirituality, or if they are connected to it.

Piotr Kachny collaborates with many renowned galleries and auction houses both in Poland and internationally, including Gallery Store, Art. In House, Desa Unicum, Galeria Next, Galleri v58, Tapper Popermajer Gallery, Brick Lane Gallery, Art of Poland, Gemini Gallery, and Galeria Oranż. His works have been presented at numerous exhibitions, and the artist has gained recognition in many prestigious competitions. In 2008, he was awarded the Erich Lütkenhaus Prize in the Ars Universitatis competition for his work The Pregnancy. He has also received awards in competitions such as the Art Competition New York (2014) and the Contemporary Art Award (2017). His paintings have gained international acclaim, and he has become one of the leading figures in contemporary painting.
