Wojciech Kossak was a Polish battle painter, representative of the historical trend. He was famous for depicting horses. He co-authored "Bitwa pod Racławicami" ("The Battle of Racławice"). (panorama = a picture which covers the whole viewer's sight). His first painting teacher was his father, a brilliant self-taught artist. Between 1871 and 1873, he studied under Władysław Łuszczkiewicz at the School of Painting and Drawing in Kraków. Later he spent two years studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He was very successful, among others, he was a protégé of Emperor Wilhelm II. In 1913, he became a professor at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
