'Walbrzych' Porcelain Tableware Plant in Walbrzych is a nationalised continuation of porcelain traditions dating back to the first half of the 19th century. The factory's history dates back to the mid 1840s, when Carl Tielsch founded a porcelain manufactory. In its prime, the manufactory employed 1,500 people and produced more than 1,600 different dishes. As a result of the economic crisis of the 1920s, the manufactory was bought out by the Hutschenreuther concern in 1923, becoming part of the porcelain factory C. M. Hutschenreuther. In 1945, the factory became Polish property and was nationalised, finally taking the name 'Walbrzych' Porcelain Tableware Plant in Walbrzych in 1953. In the 1960s, the factory implemented pioneering technological solutions, especially in the field of modelling and ceramic decoration. In 1922, the factory was privatised and operated under the name Porcelain Factory 'Walbrzych' S. A. until 2012, when it was closed down.
