He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (diploma - 1955) and history of art at the Jagiellonian University (diploma - 1954). He has illustrated over 200 books for children and adults in Poland and abroad. He is also the author of texts and illustrations for several books for children. He is a laureate of many prestigious awards and distinctions in Poland and abroad. The artist presented his work at several dozen individual exhibitions in many galleries and museums in Poland and around the world, such as Pompidou Center in Paris (1989), "Zachęta" in Warsaw (2006), the Opera Gallery at the National Theater at the Gdynia City Museum, and at the Albus Gallery in Seoul, South Korea (2017). Wilkoń's works can be found in many private and museum collections, incl. in: Moulins in France, Oshima and Azumino in Japan and in many museums in Poland.
