Józef Wilkoń is a Polish illustrator, painter, sculptor and set designer. In 1955, he graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, a year earlier from the History of Art at the Jagiellonian University. During his career, he has illustrated around two hundred books for children and adults in Poland and several dozen published abroad. In addition to illustration, he also does stage design (Wilam Horzyca Theatre in Toruń, 1978) and designs tapestries (St. Wyspianski Cooperative in Krakow). In 2019, His Majesty King Philip VI of Spain awarded Jozef Wilkoni the Commander's Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic for his contribution to the flourishing of Spanish culture.
