Polish design is gaining its rightful place in Polish art history. On 15 December this year, the Gallery of Polish Design was opened at the National Museum in Warsaw.
The exhibition presents the most important phenomena in Polish design from the early 19th century to the most recent times. The collection includes examples of the Zakopane style, designs by the "Cracow Workshops Association" , the " Ład Co-operative of Artists" or works by modernists from the "Praesens" group. In addition, the exhibition is provided with a commentary in the form of archival materials, photographs and newsreels supplementing the historical knowledge necessary to understand the artistic phenomena of the time. The opening of the gallery is accompanied by an extensive programme consisting of Thursday lectures, curator tours, discussions, workshops and museum lessons, details available on the National Museum website.
