In the last quarter of last year, the impressive Beverly Hills mansion, the Hearst Estate, was sold for $63 million. The house is already firmly anchored in American legend, having featured in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather, while in 1953 John F. and Jacqueline Kennedy spent their honeymoon there.
The Hearst Estate was built in 1926 and designed by Gordon Kaufmann, a famous architect known for his work on the Hoover Dam. The residence can be described as a luxurious summer residence in Spanish style. The house took its name from its most famous owner: newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst.
The main house has 8 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms, a 2-storey library, an Art déco style nightclub, 2 screening rooms and a billiard room. The entire property comprises 3.5 hectares of grounds with terraces, lawns, waterfalls and an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Guests can also play in a special tennis pavilion or stay overnight in one of two separate suites. The house impresses with its splendour and collection of magnificent artworks, some ceilings are hand-painted.
Properties with such a fascinating history rarely go up for sale, and the Hearst mansion definitely stands out in this field. Already the former owner: Leonard Ross tried to sell the house since 2007, in 2011 he filed for bankruptcy. The property only managed to sell in the second half of 2021. According to sources familiar with the transaction, the winning bid was $63.1 million.
