A magnificent ring made in France in the second half of the 20th century from 750 yellow gold and white gold with a centrally set very rare gemstone Iolite (Cordierite) weighing ~2.50 ct. On the sides of the composition were set 14 H-I / Vs - Si diamonds with a total weight of ~1.10 ct. The whole composition is quite large 17 x 15 mm, very visible, the ring is very impressive in person. Weight 6.55 grams, size 14. The ring is accompanied by a Certificate of Appraiser of diamonds and coloured stones (photo). It is possible to change the size +/- 3 sizes without any problems. Central Iolite, known in mineralogy as cordierite, is a very rare mineral whose name comes from the Greek 'Ios', meaning 'violet'. Its unusual, intense colour is reminiscent of that of tanzanites and sapphires. At one time, because of this unusual colour similarity, iolites were mistakenly called 'water sapphires'.
