Albert Oehlen is a German artist. He graduated from the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. His work shows inspiration from the works of Georg Baselitz, Sigmar Polke and Gerhard Richter. In his works, Oehlen combines abstraction and figuration, with his own response to the neo-expressionism of the 1980s. The artist is a proponent of 'bad' painting, e.g. he allows primitively painted figures.
