Bartek Materka is a Polish painter, who studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. A constant motif running through the artist's work are the figures from his immediate environment: his wife Joanna, his son Tytus, and his friends. In his paintings, everyday reality undergoes numerous deformations (this is how the painter explores the changes in our consciousness). The artist's paintings are usually created on the basis of his own photographs. They are an analysis of the visual apparatus, and how it is affected by contemporary optical technologies and methods of generating images (digital, television, microscope, ascii code).
