David Teniers the Younger was a Flemish baroque painter and printmaker, a member of a family of Flemish painters. He was taught the craft by his father and later joined the Guild of St Luke in Antwerp in 1632. He created genre scenes, religious scenes, mythological scenes, landscapes, portraits and still lifes. He was known for his genre scenes of the lives of various social classes. The artist's commissions include the Bishop of Bruges, Prince William of Orange, King Philip IV of Spain and Queen Christina of Sweden.
