Diego Velázquez was one of the most famous Spanish painters, representative of the Baroque, portraitist. He was a court painter of King Philip IV. He studied under Francisco de Herrera and Francico Pacheca. In 1617, the artist was admitted to the guild of St. Luke painters in Seville and established his own studio. He was famous for his excellent portraits, which show deep psychological analysis. He portrayed the truth and painted both vices and virtues. Velázquez's works can be found in the most famous galleries in the world (Prado, National Gallery in London, Museum of Art History in Vienna).
