Ferdynand Ruszczyc was a Polish painter, one of the most outstanding artists of the Young Poland movement. He painted in the Symbolist trend of Modernism art. In the years 1892-1897, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg. He debuted in 1897 at the exhibition of graduation works of his alma mater. He was a professor and worked at as many as three art schools - the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw, the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Stefan Batory University in Vilnius. His most famous paintings include Earth or Nec Mergitur.
