Herman Han was one of the most famous Baroque painters working in Poland. He took his first professional steps in the workshop of his father, also a painter. During his youthful artistic journey he visited the Netherlands and Italy. From 1597 he lived in Gdansk, where he established his own workshop. The most famous paintings by the master can be found in the cathedral in Pelplin, Oliwa and the church in Czersk. The painting "Coronation of Mary" painted for the cathedral in Pelplin was very often imitated in the 17th century.
