Katarzyna Gawłowa is a Polish folk painter. Coming from a peasant family, the artist worked hard on the farm since childhood, at the same time fulfilling herself artistically by painting the walls of her house. Her work was discovered only when she was 77 years old, and her first ( and the only in her life) vernissage took place in 1977 in the Ethnographic Museum in Cracow. The artist painted with tempera, depicting sacral and folk themes in intense colors. Gawłowa's works are in the collection of the Zachęta Gallery in Warsaw.
