Marian Mokwa was a Polish painter, one of the most famous marine painters in the country. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and in Berlin. During his career he traveled a lot, he even reached Istanbul, Ethiopia or Tibet. In June 2021, the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk hosted a cross-sectional temporary exhibition of this artist. In this institution there are about 550 compositions of Mokwa. He has painted over 8,000 paintings.
