Włodzimierz Tetmajer was a Polish painter, graphic artist and politician, brother of the poet Kazimierz Przerwy-Tetmajer. He is considered to be a leading representative of Young Poland. He studied at many universities: the School of Fine Arts in Cracow, in Munich and at the Académie Colarossi in Paris. Furthermore, he was the prototype of the host in "The Wedding" by Wyspiański. The influence of Munich realism and the paintings of Aleksander Gierymski can be seen in his works. He did not avoid patriotic and Art Nouveau compositions. Apart from painting, Tetmajer also designed stained-glass, illustrations and scenography.
