The Porzellanfabrik Freiwaldau was, from 1888, the continuation of the Freidwaldauer Porzellanmanufaktur H. Schmidt & Otremba. Its sole owner was only Schmidt, whose efforts to keep up with customer tastes proved futile - Schmidt was losing more and more customers. In 1923, he ended his work at the factory by selling it.
