Name
Z. S. O. POLAM in Poznan

The Lighting and Electromechanical Equipment Union "Polam" was one of the key industrial associations in Poland, operating from 1972 to 1989. It was established by the Polish government and encompassed several factories engaged in the production of lighting and electromechanical equipment. The Union was founded on December 31, 1971, and its name derived from the leading light bulb factory, Polam, located in Pabianice.

Polam formally originated from the Light Source Combine "UNITRA-Polam," which had been operating within the structure of the Electronics Industry Union UNITRA since 1970. After the reorganization, the Polam Union became a major center for the production of lighting technology, electromechanics, and light engineering. The factories within the Union used the prefix "Polam" in their names, and the logo became a recognizable symbol of high-quality products.

In the 1980s, the Polam Union produced a wide range of products, from light bulbs and industrial lighting to complex electromechanical devices. These products were highly regarded both in the domestic and international markets.

After the dissolution of the Union in 1989, the factories began operating independently, producing goods under their own brand names. Although the Polam Union ceased to exist, its legacy remains an important part of the history of Polish lighting industry.
