The image is perfect for a small living room, boudoir ... Leonard Wintorowski (1868 - 1926), Polish painter, battle fighter. In the years 1895-1897 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow; initially under the supervision of Leopold Loeffler, later with Teodor Axentowicz. In 1896 he was awarded a silver medal for school work. Then he was educated at the Academy in Vienna, where he went as a scholarship holder of the National Department. He began exhibiting early - he made his debut in 1897 at an exhibition at the Krakow Society of Friends of Fine Arts. He also exhibited in Lviv as well as in Łódź, Vienna and Berlin. During World War I, he served in the Austrian army as a painter and war correspondent. After the war, he moved to Warsaw. Earlier in his work, he painted portraits, landscapes, genre scenes, and religious pictures (St. Stanisław Kostka from 1912 for St. Elizabeth's Church in Lviv). He also dealt with wall painting (polychrome in the collegiate church in Jarosław, 1912-13) and book illustration (Twelve Legends and Legends from Krakow, Lviv 1899). Later he also painted nudes, especially battle paintings; preferably episodes from the war of 1920. He used his own sketches and studies drawn and painted during his military service. These dynamic combat compositions, painted with panache and bravado, found many eager buyers. From 1920, the artist lived in Warsaw, he exhibited many times at the Zachęta Society in Warsaw, where in 1928 a posthumous exhibition of his works was organized in Zachęta. In 1929 a similar exhibition was opened in Poznań.
