The Brussels KANAL-Centre Pompidou has elected its director, Kasia Redzisz

Kasia Redzisz's experience and achievements are truly impressive. She started her career in the art world already in Poland, working for the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. Between 2010 and 2015, she organised exhibitions at Tate Modern in London, at the same time taking part in numerous projects in Poland and abroad. Later, she took on the role of chief curator at Tate Liverpool, being responsible for exhibition programmes and international collaborations. She has curated many exhibitions, including critically acclaimed exhibitions by Austrian artist Maria Lassing and Polish avant-gardist Edward Krasinski.

CEO of the KANAL Foundation, Yves Goldstein, says of her: "Kasia Redzisz brings an innovative artistic vision that reflects her commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to program development and to establishing a dialogue between artistic practices originating from different geographical areas. As the Artbidy Team, we don't doubt a single word Goldstein says and we keep our fingers crossed for future successes!

KANAL-Centre Pompidou – the new museum on the Belgian map

KANAL-Centre Pompidou is the result of a collaboration between the KANAL Foundation and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. A new, interdisciplinary museum of modern and contemporary art is being created in Brussels. The name of the institution refers to its location, near to which the water channel connecting Brussels and Charleroi is located. The Museum's founders aim to create a cultural center, connected with modern and contemporary art, architecture and urban planning, which will be a worthy artistic representation of the capital of Europe.

So far, the collection has included 38 works by 27 artists who live and work in Belgium but originate from 12 different countries. They include Otobong Nkanga, an artist whose work explores the cultural analysis of the value of natural resources, and Sammy Baloji, who focuses his work on the history of Belgian colonialism in his home town of Lubumbashi (Democratic Republic of Congo). An official opening of the Museum is planned for mid-2024.
