Agnieszka Kaliska is a Romanist scholar, linguist, and painter. For many years, the artist has been affiliated with the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, where she teaches French linguistics. She took painting classes privately: with Tomasz Kalitko (2013); then, intrigued by photorealism, she enrolled in painting classes with Paweł Jaskuła at the "Rakla" Studio in Poznań (2018). She has been painting systematically since 2011. She showed her paintings for the first time in 2017 in the common spaces of the Academic House at 3 Nieszawska Street in Poznań, where she had lived for 16 years. The exhibition was entitled: 'I painted a picture, such are its colours'. In subsequent years (2018 and 2019), Agnieszka Kaliska presented her paintings during vernissages in a 30-square-metre private space as part of the AK30 project in Poznań (2018 and 2019). She has submitted her works to charity auctions on several occasions. Among others, she took part in the 5th Auction for Home organized by the Autistic Home Foundation in Poznań (2020). In 2022, a selection of works from recent years was on show at the Spring Salon at the Operis Artis Gallery in Antonin. The painter's last, original exhibition entitled 'You are a painting - portraits' took place at Piotr Bekasiak's Miscellaneous Arts Gallery in Garbary, Poznań, in April 2023. In recent months, the artist's works, including the presented painting, have taken part in the exhibition 'Woman' organized by the Barbagelata Foundation; and, in addition, in the exhibition 'Rytmy jazzu' at Stary Browar in Poznań.
