Armand Fernandez was an American contemporary artist who was born in France and was a member of the Nouveau Realisme group. His most famous works: 'Accumulations', are collections of identical - and often everyday - objects, arranged in astonishing ways. They were housed in polyester casts or Plexiglas boxes; the first welded accumulations were created in 1962 and contained metal objects such as axes.
