Bolesław Karpiński was a Polish writer, painter, publicist and teacher, soldier of the Polish Legions and the Polish Army. He was a cultural activist in Leszno, and was one of the founders of the "Society for the Propagation of Science and Art". In the National Museum in Warsaw there are several illustrations by the artist. He liked to create caricatures. As a figure particularly dangerous for the Third Reich (legionary), he was sentenced to death and shot in October 1939.
