Bolesław Chromy is one of the leading figures in contemporary Polish art, known for his incredibly versatile body of work. Born in 1925 in Leńcze near Lanckorona, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where he studied under Xawery Dunikowski. His artistic output spanned sculpture, medal-making, painting, and drawing, and thanks to his exceptional talent and tireless work ethic, he created art almost until the end of his life. Chromy became famous for his monumental sculptures, such as the "Wawel Dragon" and the "Dżok Dog Monument," which have become permanent fixtures in Kraków's landscape, as well as for his smaller statues and medals.

His art explored a wide range of themes—from historical and martyrdom-related subjects to cosmological and animalistic themes, which are particularly well-represented in his personal gallery in Decjusz Park in Kraków. Chromy participated in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad, earning many awards and honors. In 2009, he was awarded the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture, "Gloria Artis."

In the later years of his life, he debuted as a writer, publishing an autobiography titled *Stone and Dream*. He passed away in 2017, leaving behind a rich artistic legacy that continues to inspire.
