Edgar Degas was one of the most famous French impressionist painters and sculptors, but his work often tended towards realism and romanticism. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Paris, in the first years of his artistic work he was influenced by the work of Jean Ingres. Currently, the most famous works of Degas are compositions with ballerinas, he also created paintings showing the night life of Paris, and often painted nudes. When in the later stages of his life he began to suffer from sight problems, he began to use pastels instead of oil paintings, and sculpted more often.
