Edward Okuń was a Polish painter, draughtsman and illustrator, one of the most prominent representatives of the Symbolist, Art Nouveau trend in Polish art. He received his artistic education at Wojciech Gerson's Drawing Class in Warsaw, at the School of Fine Arts in Krakow and in Munich and Paris. Throughout his career, he created many wonderful portraits, often playing with various conventions. He painted typically salon compositions, dressed his models in various costumes and also invented symbolic images.
