Francesco Salviati was an Italian painter of the Mannerist period. He studied under Andrea del Sarto. The frescoes depicting the story of Furius Camillus in the Florentine Palazzo Vecchio (1543-1545) are considered the greatest achievement in his career as a painter. Apart from frescoes, he often created altar paintings, portraits, tapisseries and theatre decorations. His works can be found in the most famous museums in the world: the Uffizi Gallery, the Louvre or the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin.
