Jan Piotr Norblin was a French painter, printmaker and draughtsman, one of the leading artists of the Stanislaus era. He received his artistic education at the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture - the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in Paris, and later at the Ecole Royale - the Royal School. He is known to have been active in Poland between 1774 and 1804, primarily as a protégé of the Czartoryski family. Furthermore, he later moved to Paris, where he continued to paint Polish landscapes based on sketches he brought with him. He also drew scenes of French street life and the Napoleonic Wars.
