Jan Zięciak is a self-taught Polish artist with an unbroken connection to the countryside and folklore. He has been carving since 1972, creating various forms—bas-reliefs, full sculptures, woodcarving ornaments. The artist has taken part in approximately 100 open-air sculpture workshops and more than 100 collective and individual exhibitions. Zięciak is also involved in education—he has given sculpting demonstrations or educational meetings with young people. Jan Zięciak's greatest artistic successes include being awarded 1st prize in the 'Folk Sculpture' competition by the District Museum in Koszalin in 1983 and taking part in the exhibition '60 years of folk sculpture in Western Pomerania', organized by the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle in Szczecin in 2005. The sculptor also won the Laura Cisowego award for promoting the Nowogard area in 2006.
