Joan Miró was a Catalan painter, sculptor and ceramicist. From 1912 to 1915 he studied at the private school of fine arts Escola d'Art Francesco Galí. From 1913 to 18 he trained at the free drawing academy Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc. From the early to mid-1920s, the artist worked in Paris, where he succumbed to the influences of Dadaism and Surrealism, which led to a fundamental change in his style. He gained international recognition and his work was interpreted as surrealism, but with a hint of personal style. His work also sometimes verged on Fauvism and Expressionism.
