Józef Schiffer was a Cracow painter of Jewish origin, active around the middle of the 20th century. He worked in the style of the Katowice school of landscape painting. Schiffer's favourite themes were forest and country landscapes. He painted mainly in the technique of watercolour painting and gouache. His works very often appear on the Polish antiquarian market, usually there is no problem with their identification, because the artist signed each work with his name.
