Karolina Koryl is an outstanding Polish artist of the young generation. She studied at the Faculty of Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts, graduating from the studio of Prof. Paweł Nowak and Sylwia Walczowska-Rojewska. Her works are often a poignant study of the spectrum of human mental states, reflecting the emotions of the artist for whom art, in addition to its aesthetic dimension, also has a self-therapeutic meaning. Koryl draws, paints, designs graphics, posters and illustrations. In her highly reflective works we find both figurative and abstract representations, color and minimalist black line. She points to Jean-Michel Basquiat as her inspiration at the time when her original style was being formed. A characteristic element of her works is combining drawing or painting with text, ambiguously commenting on issues of identity, emotions, communication with others and with herself. The artist is the author of, among others, illustrations for the book "Dialogues de bêtes", "Weronika nie chce zostać modelką" by F. Capella, a vinyl record cover "Pejzaż - ostatni dzień lata" and a poster advertising the 26th International Poster Biennale in Warsaw. Koryl's works were presented, among others, at the exhibitions "Mothers of Independence" at the Nowolipki Foundation (2020) and "Separate Show. Pandemic Body" at the Koneser Academy Salon Gallery (2021). The artist publishes her works in social media (Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr), also running her own online store. She lives and works in Warsaw, as she says, "hiding from the world".
