Małgorzata MIrga-Tas is a Polish-Roma painter, sculptor, educator and activist. She graduated from the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Mirga-Tas creates unique patchwork installations and sculptures from fabrics, which were usually given to her by people close to her. Her works are characterized by an intriguing and original choice of patterns and colors. In her work she focuses on depicting Roma history and culture, taking into account issues of everyday life. The artist is the creator and curator of the "Romani Art" project and the annual event "Event of Roma Art in Czarna Góra Jaw Dikh! (Come and see!). Through her artistic activity, she popularizes knowledge about the Roma minority and counteracts discrimination and stereotyping of the Roma. She is a winner of "Polityka's" Passport Award. She participated in the 3rd Art Encounters Biennial in Timisoara (2019) and the 11th Biennial in Berlin (2020), among others. She has been selected to represent the Polish Pavilion at the 59th Biennale of Contemporary Art in Venice in 2022 (the exhibition "Disenchanting the World"). Currently lives and works in Czarna Góra
