Piotr Smogór is a philosopher by education, a computer graphic designer by profession, which clearly influences his approach to painting as a design procedure and a way of conveying, sometimes just a general climate, thoughts, the human condition. He paints mainly figurative compositions, sometimes playing with the image as a transformation made with common digital means: computer, mobile devices, etc. For the purposes of his painting, he coined the term figurative landscape, which is a canvass of the message and objectification of the human being in the surrounding reality. In the author's works, we are confronted with an interweaving of planes and layers of temporal perception, which thus reveal the history of human corporeality along with the limitations of its nature and aberration as a transgression of a cultural pattern. The reality of block housing, slums and the associated aggression of the message that unites form with content sometimes enters the works. Thematically, it oscillates between socially engaged art and expression framed by memories, understatements and imagery. Engagement takes the form of remaining in correspondence with the here-and-now, i.e. with actions that become patterns of social behaviour, new media of information influx, facts that are latent but which are an undeniable attribute of being. He tries to describe his exhibitions in the form of essays. Recently, he has been experimenting with simplifying and masking elements of experience, where the main subject of the work is a hidden place.

He has participated in many group exhibitions including two editions of the WPA International Art Festival and the OSTEN Biennial of Drawing in Skopje.
