Wojciech Weiss was a Polish painter, draughtsman and graphic artist, representative of Young Poland and Expressionism in national art. He began regular studies at the Kraków School of Fine Arts in 1892 and graduated in 1898 with a gold medal and a scholarship. He was a member of the Association of Polish Artists "Sztuka" and Vienna Secession. He created figurative symbolic scenes, portraits, nudes and landscapes. At the end of his life he created several socialist-realist paintings. His most famous paintings include: "Melancholic" (1898), "Demon" (1904) and "Spring" (1902-1903). (1902-1903).
