"Before the Road", oil painting on canvas by Czesław Wasilewski (Zygmuntowicz) made in the 1930s. A beautiful genre scene showing a meeting of two peasant friends before one of them leaves. Men light up a cigarette, it is a scene in which the artist showed his talent by playing with a palette of colors and chiaroscuro. Scenery among spring thaws, in the background rural buildings, women walking along the road, everyday life in the countryside. The artist's handwritten signature is visible in the lower right corner. The painting after professional, conservative maintenance consisting in washing the canvas and applying a new varnish. Dimensions 66 x 97.5 cm, the canvas itself 48 x 80 cm. Wooden frame, original. Condition absolutely perfect.
