Józef Hołard - Art professor, artist, painter, graphic artist, poster artist, educator. He was born in 1957 in Oświęcim. He died in 2015 in Bielsko. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow - Graphic Department in Katowice. He obtained a diploma with honors in the studio of prof. Tomasz Jura in 1983. From 1986 he worked at the Art Institute of the University of Silesia in Cieszyn. Before his death, he headed the Department of Graphic Design. He was the author of several dozen individual exhibitions and a participant of several dozen collective exhibitions in Poland and abroad. He took part in the largest Polish and world poster competitions, incl. in Katowice, Warsaw, Lahti (Finland), Toyama, Ogaki (Japan), Tehran (Iran), Sofia (Bulgaria), Moscow (Russia), Beijing, Hong Kong (China), Vilnius (Lithuania). He has won many awards for his posters, incl. Gold Medal (2009/2010) at the 3rd International Graphic Biennale "Of the Islamic World" in Tehran (Iran), first prize in the Poster Competition Promoting the IX International Competition for Conductors in Katowice (2011).
