Lanvin is a French fashion house, taking its name from its founder, Jeanne Lanvin (1867-1946). In 1889 the 22-year-old Lanvin set up a hat shop, just four years later she founded her fashion house. In 1908, she opened a children's clothing department, drawing inspiration for the collection from her little daughter. The business grew rapidly, the head designer showed her clothes at international exhibitions, in 1924 she opened a perfume shop, and in 1926 she launched a collection of clothes for men. After the founder's death, the business was run by her daughter until 1950; Bruno Sialelli is currently the creative director.
