Mirostowice Ceramic Factories

The factories were established back in the 1870s. It produced mainly building and architectural ceramics. During the Second World War, the factory produced aircraft parts. After the war, the plant was destroyed by both the Germans and the Soviets. Production there only resumed in 1948 and the manufactured product was clinker bricks. Tableware did not start to be produced in Mirostowice until 1965. Its production took place in parallel with the production of other items. The tableware was porcelain and included heat-resistant dishes or bar mugs. In 1966, a modelling workshop was opened at the factory, which employed Eryk Figiel, a ceramics designer. Figiel trained a sizeable group of students. In 1975, the Works produced only porcelain products. The company's range of products included coffee sets, big bowls, bouillons, mugs, vases, ashtrays and food containers. In 1991, by a decision of the Zielona Góra Governor, the plant was put into liquidation and finally, in 1996, it was closed down.
