The origins of Christian Seltmann's factory go back deep into his family and his early career. Seltmann's family owned a porcelain paint shop in Schlottenhof. He later served apprenticeships at other porcelain factories until he finally took a job at the Arzberg factory, where he designed dishes and decorations. In 1901, together with his older brother Johann, he opened a porcelain factory in Schlottendorf. Unfortunately, the brothers often disagreed, so in 1910 Christian Setlmann opened his completely own factory in Weiden. Over time, the factory remained in the hands of the family - after Christian's death, it was managed by his widow Katarina, and Katarina passed the company on to her sons. Seltmann's company was special - it offered not only excellent porcelain, but also high-quality glass from Glasfabrik Marienhütte G.m.b.H.. During the Second World War, the factory operated in a limited form and its buildings were damaged. In the 1950s the factory was modernised. The Seltmann porcelain factory is still in operation today and is still owned by the Seltmann family.
