“Pruszków” Porcelite Tableware Factory in Pruszków
Name
“Pruszków” Porcelite Tableware Factory in Pruszków

The factory was established on the basis of the former Teichfeld and Asterblum faience factory in Wloclawek, founded around 1880. The factory was nationalised in 1946. Initially, faience crockery was produced, but at the end of the 1950s, after the modernisation of the production line, porcelain crockery began to be produced. In 1958, a calibration centre was established at the factory, headed by Gabriela Hoffmann-Śleżewska. Innovative decorations of old crockery models were created in Pruszków, but in 1959 Hoffmann-Śleżewska designed the first new coffee set - Primo. The turn of the 1950s and 1960s was a time when designs from the Institute of Industrial Design were implemented in the factory. In 1962, Wiesława Gołajewska joined the factory and designed many coffee sets and developed the converging glaze technology. The fugitive glaze proved to be a great success - the dishes decorated with it won awards, including a gold medal at the National Fair in Poznań in 1963. The factory operated until 2001, when it declared bankruptcy.
