Yves Saint Laurent SAS is a French fashion house founded by Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé in 1961 in France. The division of responsibilities within the company was clear - Laurent handled design, Bergé took over the financial and organizational side. The company popularized the beatnik style of dress: leather short jackets, high boots. In 1966, they proposed the women's dinner jacket. In 1999, the Gucci group, part of the PPR (Pinault-Printemps-Redoute) group, bought the YSL brand. Designers of the fashion house besides its founder included: Tom Ford, Stefano Pilati, Hedi Slimane and Anthony Vaccarello.
