For the first time in 30 years, Charles White's most iconic works will be on show at MoMA in New York. In his works, the artist repeatedly returns to the issue of skin colour that is highly visible in North America. The exhibition 'Charles White - a retrospective' is open until 13 January 2019.

Charles White exhibition

In all the cities he lived in (Los Angeles, Chichago, New York), Charles White became an icon of American pop culture sometimes compared to Andy Warhol. He himself once said of his work that art must measure up to the world, be not only delicate but also powerful.

MoMA's Museum of Contemporary Art has brought together 100 of White's works, which the painter created from 1930 to 1979. In addition to paintings, the exhibition also features drawings, photographs and recordings by the artist.
